Instructor: Kim Young
Kim Young has been associated with the HypnoBirthing Institute since 2002, first as a HypnoBirthing Educator, and then as a Faculty Member. She serves on the Advisory Board and the Ethics Committee. She created the Better Baby Bonding through Touch Infant Massage Instructor Certification Class, and co-created the Business Basics Class.
Kim comes by her expertise in the fields she teaches from years of experience. She has a business degree from Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, which she put to use as a payroll analyst for a large corporation. After leaving the corporate ‘jungle’, she went out on her own to run a two woman Payroll and Bookkeeping services business that serviced almost 40 clients. She added software support, doing troubleshooting for Peachtree Accounting Software, and started teaching new entrepreneurs how to do the business end of their businesses. Much like a newly trained HBCE, a great business and being well trained doesn’t always translate into being an entrepreneur. The Business Basics class helps new business owners to navigate the waters of bookkeeping, marketing, insurance, business plans, and keeping an eye on the promise of the financial abundance that is possible with good planning and the right attitude.
After selling her business, she planned on an early retirement, but it was not to be.
Kim attended Massage school, and found the joys of working with expectant families. She specialized in prenatal and infant massage, became a doula, and then found HypnoBirthing. After working with Parents from the beginning of pregnancy, sometimes before conception, she realized that the perfect pregnancy didn’t always translate into being confident parents. Parents were so afraid to do the wrong thing that they did nothing at all but the very basics with their newborns. Out of this realization, and a request form Mickey Mongan, came the Better Baby Bonding through Touch class. Parents learn to communicate and connect with their babies through the vehicle of massage, helping both parents and babies to facilitate a close bond, and also to relieve physical and emotional stress. Parents and babies experience stress during birth – sometimes joyful, sometimes traumatic – and massage can help relieve birth memories quite effectively. As a Certified Instructor, students will be teaching parents to massage and connect with their babies.
HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method is the original Practitioner training and carries a Gold Seal Approval which is recognised in 45 countries. The Gold Seal Approval assures the general public that the practitioner is of the highest standing and has passed their certification review and has agreed to the Codes of Ethics and Standards as set out by the HypnoBirthing® Institute. It is the most comprehensive program available and as such is recognised as the leading program here in the US.
